Face Lab
Where Beauty Breathes and Transforms.
Face Lab is a haven of deliberate elegance in the bustling neighbourhood of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. More than a typical medical beauty clinic, it is an urban retreat designed for those seeking not just a treatment. Offering a hotel-like interior experience, Face Lab provides high-end individuals with a space to disconnect, breathe, and undergo profound transformation.
House of Forme worked with the client on the brand environment and interior design.
An Arrival into Serenity.
The ritualistic experience of Face Lab begins at the facade, encompassing the entire floor. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a custom-designed bench atop a marble floor, providing a convenient spot for shoe changing and storage without compromising aesthetics. Italian wall plaster, finished in gloss, creates an ambiance that shifts under varying light. From uplights to LEDs, the curated lighting scheme highlights the signage and creates an immersive atmosphere. Bespoke door handles with bronze accents radiate quiet luxury. Carefully selected vegetation and natural materials like travertine further reinforce the sense of retreat.
Stepping into the foyer, the floor makes a striking impression with its radiant stone pattern, echoing the dimmable barrisol ceiling, finished with custom plaster. The interplay of light and form draws the eyes to the artisan-crafted sculptural island made of smooth micro-cement, anchoring the space as the main reception. Uplights are precisely positioned, casting shadows to accentuate the island’s organic form.
The Art of Light & Shadow.
The reception area is thoughtfully divided into two main zones. To one side, the Waiting Area is a tranquil hideaway for visitors to relax with a cup of coffee or a magazine. Mirrors are cleverly placed to expand the space, while the curving back of the sofa creates an organic language. The bespoke coffee table, crafted from Elis Grey marble, alongside the soft sculptural bronze sconces, adds a touch of elegance. The imported fabrics and wall coverings provide tactility and luxuriousness, completing the space’s premium atmosphere.
Opposite the Waiting Area is a display shelf, showcasing a range of products, from Face Lab’s own creations to those distributed by the brand. LED lighting is strategically placed to illuminate each item. Adjacent to the display, the Consultation Room offers a private experience where visitors can receive expert advice tailored to their specific needs. Inside, the Phillip Jeffries wallpaper creates a luxurious backdrop with its gold gradient. Moody sconces enhance the ambiance, mirroring the glamorous cityscape visible beyond.
The long corridor elevates the narrative of opulence. Uplights cast a soft glow along the pathway, while bespoke, tulip-inspired lighting fixtures illuminate each doorway, welcoming visitors. The lacquer doors, designed with rounded corners, offer a contrast to the striking metal plaster lighting, creating a harmonious balance between texture and forms.
A Serene Personal Retreat.
Each Treatment Room offers a distinct experience. The walls, painted in a soft sand hue are accented with weathered like timber veneer, bringing rustic warmth and natural comfort. Featuring a versatile lighting system that ranges from mood lights to operational lights, they cater to both relaxation and functionality. Some rooms are fitted with full height mirrors, expanding the visual space, while others are equipped with full-height wardrobes for convenient storage. Rooms lacking natural light are transformed with feature walls, designed to be decorated with scents and plants, adding a sense of characteristic.
Wooden screens are an important design element in the Treatment Rooms. Beyond concealing window frames, they serve as a discreet partition in the double room, allowing the space to transform from two intimate single rooms into a shared sanctuary for couples. Handmade wallpaper coverings add layers of texture, enriching the space. Handwoven curtains introduce another layer of tactility and gentle curves, balancing out the stiffness in the metal and wood.
Luxury Tailored to You.
The Owner’s Room is situated at a rounded corner of the space. To complement the unique layout and accentuate the curved windows, a round sofa is incorporated, enhancing the aesthetic without compromising functionality. A beige-toned wallpaper, subtly patterned with embossed textures, aligns with the theme of urban retreat, creating a design that blurs the boundaries between the serene interior and dynamic panorama.
The Bathrooms and Make-up Vanity are designed with consideration to materials, texture and functionality. Travertine dominates the bathroom space, creating a sense of natural elegance. Spanish marble covers are adapted to the custom lighting fixtures with sophistication. Ample space is intentionally left on the countertops, allowing clients to add their personal touch. The vanity area is designed to fit two. The travertine detailing on the mirror joinery echoes with the space’s material palette. The fabric-covered stools add a playful personality to the sleek minimalism.
